Man Hurt After Jumping On Car In North Baltimore

06/20/17 – 7:08 A.M.

A verbal dispute in North Baltimore ended with one man in the hospital. The Sentinel Tribune reports that the man allegedly jumped onto the running boards of another car and then fell off. Police Chief Alan Baer told the newspaper that the incident allegedly started with the man driving recklessly. Another suspect followed the driver back to his residence where the verbal argument began.

The alleged reckless driver then reportedly jumped onto the running boards of another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was driving away but hit the brakes, sending the man to the pavement. He was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital, then to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center by air ambulance.

The incident remains under investigation.

3-Year-Old Girl Hurt In Findlay Main Street Crash

6/20/17 – 4:54 A.M.

A three-year-old child was hurt in a two-car crash in Findlay Monday. The Courier reports that the accident happened around 5 pm on Main Street. 54-year-old Melinda Addenbrooke of Findlay ran a red light at the intersection of Main and Lincoln Street. She struck a car driven by 26-year-old John Bayliff of Findlay.

Bayliff’s 3-year-old daughter, Quinn, had scratches on her collarbone and neck. Hanco EMS took her to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment.

Addenbrooke was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

Putnam County Man Killed In Tractor Rollover

06/20/17 – 4:29 A.M.

A Putnam County man died last night in a fatal farm accident in Perry Township. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reports that they were called to help a trapped person on Road 22K. Responders found 58-year-old Thomas Wannemacher trapped under a tractor. According to officers, it appeared that he was mowing along a ditch when the tractor rolled into it. Wannemacher suffered fatal injuries and had to be removed from the equipment by Kalida Heavy Rescue.

The accident remains under investigation.

Breaking And Entering Ends With One Suspect Shot

06/19/17 – 5:24 P.M.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a breaking and entering and a shooting from Monday morning. A release from the office says that the incident happened around 1:45 a.m. on County Road 8 near Houcktown. The resident found two young people inside an outbuilding on the property and confronted them with a weapon. One of the juveniles was shot and had to be taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

The juvenile received treatment and was released to officers. They took both of the suspects to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center on the breaking and entering charge.

The incident is still under investigation. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.

Travel Safety Advice For That Summer Vacation Drive

Summer officially starts this week and that means it’s time for summer vacations. Findlay AAA president Pat Garlock said that before you go you should make sure you have some things packed.

She said that having these will help make those long trips more manageable. She also said that having extra water is important.

Garlock said that it is also important to make sure infants stay out of the sun. Babies can still get sunburnt even if the car is cool as long as the sun is on them.

Hancock County Road 140 Closing Tomorrow

06/19/17 – 1:47 P.M.

The Hancock County Engineer’s Office has announced a road closure for tomorrow. County Road 140 between Township Roads 94 and 95 will be closed starting at 8 a.m. for maintenance. The road should be open by 3 p.m., weather permitting.

You are urged to use caution in the area.

Recent Conviction Shows That Words Can Have Real Consequences

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Facebook page shared an article about the conviction of a young woman on involuntary manslaughter charges. The post linked to an article from TodaysMama.com about the conviction of Michelle Carter. Crime Prevention Officer Beth Baker said that Carter urged her boyfriend to kill himself back in 2014 when she could have helped.

Local Gas Prices Continue To Fall

6/19/17 – 7:18 A.M.

Local gas prices are down for the second straight week. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Findlay is $2.07 today. That’s down 10 cents over the last week. Prices haven’t been this low in Findlay since the end of March.

Ottawa drivers report paying $2.09 per gallon today. That’s down three cents since last Monday.

The statewide average continues to fall as well. Drivers around Ohio are paying $2.11 per gallon today, down 11 cents over the last seven days.

New Display At Findlay High School Honors Active Duty Military Members

6/19/17 – 6:52 A.M.

A new display inside Findlay High School honors graduates who are serving in the military. The Courier reports a board that displays pictures of active military members from the school now overlooks the main entrance of the building. The display says, “Findlay serving the country,” and features the seals of all five of the military branches.

Principal Craig Kuperfberg says he wanted to show support for the school’s active military members before he retires later this summer. He adds the school already honors veterans with a dinner and speaker in November.

The new display has room to feature 90 pictures. It’s also illuminated at night thanks to a donation from RAB Lighting.
