Putnam County will get it’s first Recovery Housing unit this July or August in Ottawa. The Putnam County Sentinel reports that Pathways Counseling Center is figuring out the details for the unit. These include standards, rules, and requirements for the program’s first residents. Pathways Counseling Center will also be responsible for managing the recovery housing program.
Executive director Aaron Baumgartner said, “The intent is simply to help someone who is actively in recovery.” The program is not intended to provide a place to live for someone in recovery and struggling to find stable housing. It is meant to provide an optimal environment to aid someone who is already in recovery.
