Hydrant Flushing Announced For Monday

There will be more hydrant flushing in Findlay on Monday, according to the Water Distribution Department. The hydrants will be flushed in the area south of the Blanchard to West Hobart and from South Main Street west to the corporation limit.

Roadwork Closing Several City Roads In Findlay Next Week

06/30/17 – 4:54 P.M.

The City of Findlay will have plenty of road work restricting roads from Monday to Friday next week. H Street from Tiffin Avenue to the north dead end will be closed to through traffic. Eastview and Westview Streets will be closed to through traffic from Sixth Street to Redbird. Central Avenue from Tiffin Avenue to Balsey Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Finally, McConnel will be closed to through traffic from Central to Dayton Avenues.

North Main Street will be reduced to on lane in the northbound direction from Trenton to Melrose Avenues. Trenton Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Main and Blanchard Streets.

South Main Street Will have overnight lane restrictions for milling and paving starting July 5. That will be from Lima Avenue to Center Street.

Fireworks Shows Happening In The Area

There are several fireworks shows happening in our area this weekend and early next week. The first show will be in Fostoria this Saturday at dusk. Findlay, Ottawa, Bowling Green, and Fremont will have their show Monday evening. Findlay will also have festivities happening on Tuesday to celebrate Fourth of July. Lima, McComb, Tiffin, and Toledo will launch their fireworks on Tuesday.

Fostoria: Festivities will be held at Foundation Park starting at 5 p.m. on July 1.

Findlay: Festivities start on Monday at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, gates open at 4 p.m. Admission is free for the event. Fireworks will be at 10 p.m. On Tuesday there will be a Fourth of July Parade starting at 11 a.m. on Main Street.

Ottawa: Festivities will be at the Faith Baptist Church at 9 p.m. and fireworks will be at 10 p.m. on Monday

Bowling Green: Fireworks will be launched from the Bowling Green State University Intramural Fields at dusk on Monday. If there is rain it will be held on Wednesday.

Fremont: Fireworks will be set off from Walsh Park at dusk on Monday.

Lima: Festivities will start at Faurot Park on Tuesday. Events start at 8:30 a.m. and fireworks will be at 10 p.m.

McComb: Fireworks will be set off at dusk on Tuesday from the McComb Village Park

Tiffin: Festivities start at 1 p.m. at the Hedges-Boyer Park on Tuesday. Fireworks will start at 10 p.m.

Toledo: Fireworks will be launched on Tuesday at 10 p.m. with synchronized music from 101.5 “The River”

Findlay Woman Injured In Collision With Dump Truck

6/30/17 – 5:27 A.M.

A crash involving a dump truck injured a Findlay woman Thursday morning. The Findlay Police Department reports the collision happened at the intersection of Sixth and South Blanchard streets around 9:15 a.m.

91-year-old Edna Guear was driving east on Sixth Street when she turned left in front of a dump truck driven by 49-year-old Scott LaPlante of Toledo. Hanco Ambulance took Guear to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment. La Plante wasn’t hurt in the accident.

Police cited Gear for failure to yield from a left turn.

Teenager Pleads Not Guilty In Fostoria Murder Case

6/30/17 – 5:17 A.M.

A teenager accused in a fatal Fostoria stabbing pleaded not guilty to a murder charge Thursday. The Review-Times reports 18-year-old Cristian Brown of Pittsburgh appeared in court for his arraignment yesterday. Prosecutors say Brown fatally stabbed 18-year-old D’Andre Gehring on January 25.

Brown was 17-years-old at the time of the stabbing. He initially appeared in the juvenile court but will stand trial as an adult.

The second person charged in the attack pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in May. 18-year-old Arlando Crowe Jr. is serving a 30-month prison sentence.

Lorain Man Sentenced For Hancock County Assault

6/30/17 – 5:06 A.M.

A Lorain man will spend three years in prison for hitting a Hancock County teenager in the head with a beer bottle in Marion Township last September. The Courier reports Judge Jonathan Starn sentenced 51-year-old George Seymore Thursday. Seymore pleaded guilty to assault in May. Seymore will also have to pay more than $16,000 in restitution for medical bills.

The victim of the assault spoke in court Thursday. Thomas Urbansky said, “This has been a hard time for my family.” His mother said when she got the call about the incident last year a nurse told her Thomas had potentially fatal injuries.

Assistant Prosecutor Steve Powell said he had difficulties with the case because there was so much alcohol and substance abuse. Starn said Seymore tested positive for cocaine when he appeared in court Thursday.

Hydrant Flushing Continues in Findlay

Hydrant flushing in Findlay will continue tomorrow. The Water Distribution Department announced that they will be working in the area of Blanchard River South to West Hobart Street. And From South Main Street west to the corporation limit.

Ted’s Supermarket In Pandora Burgled Again

06/29/17 – 4:01 P.M.
Ted’s Market had another run-in with criminals after being broken into over a week ago. A post on the Putnam County Sheriff’s Facebook page says that two suspects robbed the outside pop machines. The sheriff’s office says that the two are driving an SUV. They believe that the pair is hitting a lot of area businesses, and not just in Putnam County. The post warns business owners to keep an eye on their outside machines if they have them.
