Full .22 Caliber Magazine Found At Fostoria Junior/Senior High School

A full gun magazine found at Fostoria Junior/Senior High School has police posted around the school today. The Review Times reports that the magazine containing .22 caliber bullets was found at the end of school on Thursday. Superintendent Andrew Sprang told parents about the incident in a voice message. The school was searched by the staff and members of the Fostoria Police but they didn’t find anything.

The school hadn’t received any threats but police are posted to ensure student safety. No other information is available at this time.

Drugs Found In Putnam County Crash

05/05/17 – 10:55 P.M.

Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies found marijuana and paraphernalia at a two-car crash on Wednesday. The Putnam County Sentinel reports that the find has deputies questioning the cause of the Ottoville accident. At about 2 p.m. 66-year-old Mary Alger of Elida was heading south on Wayne street. 23-year-old Nick Thompson failed to stop at the intersection at Fourth Street and struck Alger’s car.

Sgt. Mark Brecht said he could smell marijuana in Thompson’s car. They found a makeshift pipe and the burnt ends of rolling papers. Thompson suffered minor injuries from the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.

Marathon Official Retiring

A Marathon official has decided to retire later this year. The Courier reports that Patricia Richards will retire on July 1 of this year. She is the head of office for Marathon Petroleum Corp.’s federal government affairs. She has worked for the company for over 30 years and represented the Marathon in Washington D.C.

Jake Menefee will transition into the job. He is currently the federal government affairs manager.

Local Reineke Dealer For Lincoln Looking To Raise Money For Habitat For Humanity

Reineke Ford Lincoln of Findlay and Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County are partnering up. Reineke is bringing the Lincoln Motor Company’s Driven to Given Program to the community. The goal of the effort id to raise $8,000 for Habitat for Humanity. For every person that comes and test drives a new Lincoln vehicle, the company will donate $20.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday. The test drives will last about 7-10 minutes.

Local Businesses Receive Safety Awards

Area companies were honored at the 71st Annual Hancock County Safety Council Awards Luncheon. Over 40 Findlay and Hancock County businesses were recognized for their outstanding safety records. Some of the awards include having at least 500,000 work hours without a lost-time injury and working the entire year without injury or illness. Achievement awards were given to companies that lowered their incident rate by at least 25%.

Findlay Fire Chief Offers Explains Dangers Of Flood Waters

In the event of a flash flood in Findlay, you’re best bet is to stay away from the water. Findlay Fire Chief Josh Eberle said that the water can trick you.

Eberle added that aside from the current and depth you also have to worry about hypothermia because the water will be cold. The added pressure could also push off the manhole covers. If you’re wading through you could fall in the manhole if this happens and be seriously injured.

Findlay Air Expo Celebrating Our Aerial Military This Weekend

The Findlay Air Expo is coming to the Findlay Airport this weekend. Airport Manager Matt McVicker said that they will have planes from World War II on display.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday. There will be food available as well as the historical planes on display and in the air.

Possible Ottawa Flooding Doesn’t Appear To Be Severe

Ottawa is looking to get into the flood stage but it shouldn’t be too bad according to current predictions. Flood Plain Manager Denise Ballabaugh says that they are looking to keep traffic flowing.

She added that the river could get out of its banks and might affect low laying areas. Most of the area will be unaffected though.

Mount Blanchard Resident Urges Calmer Approach To Pushing For Mitigation Changes

A Mount Blanchard resident says he wants to work with Hancock County and Stantec Engineering officials to find better solutions for flood mitigation. Ben Miller isn’t a fan of the proposed dry storage basins, but doesn’t believe anger over the issue solves anything…

Fire Damages Ada Home

5/4/17 – 5:22 A.M.

Fire damaged an Ada home Wednesday afternoon. WKTN radio reports the fire happened in the 400 block of Main Street. The house had apartments on the first and second floor. Everyone in the apartments made it out of the building safely.

EMS crews treated a firefighter for smoke inhalation at the scene of the blaze.

Firefighters haven’t found the cause of the fire yet. The incident remains under investigation.
