Two Indicted For Alleged Drug Sales In Findlay

Two people are facing drug charges in Hancock County following the recent release of secret indictments in separate cases. 27-year-old Shawna Hall of Findlay faces two counts of trafficking heroin and two counts of trafficking in cocaine. She allegedly sold the drugs last July in Findlay.

30-year-old Jessica Beck of Oregon, Ohio faces two counts of trafficking in cocaine and two counts of permitting drug abuse. She allegedly sold cocaine last June in Findlay. Investigators say she also allowed someone to use her car to sell cocaine.

American Heart Association Teaming With Businesses To Promote Healthy Lifestyles

An effort is underway in Hancock County to have employers encourage their employees to develop healthy habits. The American Heart Association is distributing kits through area businesses that introduce a new health topic each month.

Kerri Rochelle is the community and development director for the American Heart Association’s Maumee office, and says the kits have educational handouts and ideas for suggested activities. Rochelle says the goal is to make it easy and inexpensive for employers to put the program in place. So far she has handed out around 50 kits, and has some more available.

The kits are free to area businesses. Marathon Petroleum and Cooper Tire contributed extra money to help launch the program. Both companies are longtime sponsors of the American Heart Association.

Blanchard Valley Health System To Host Health Fair And Panel To Discuss Heart Health

Blanchard Valley Health System will host “HeartSmart”, a presentation to educate the community about heart health. The day will start off at 10 a.m. with a health fair featuring informational booths, screenings, and more. You’ll get a boxed lunch at 11:30 followed by a panel discussion with several physicians from 12 – 1 p.m. This will be held in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital on Tuesday, June 30.

Findlay YMCA Helping Seniors To Get Active

The Findlay Family YMCA will work with senior citizen’s Wednesday for National Senior Health and Fitness Day. Active Older Adult Coordinator Sue Pasche said that they are bringing in a special guest.

The event will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and is completely free at the YMCA in Downtown Findlay. Aside from the presentation, there will also be testing available and several activities. You can learn more at findlayymca.org.

Pride Picnic In Findlay This Saturday To Celebrate LGBTQ+ Community

There’s going to be a picnic this Saturday to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Findlay and the surrounding area. The picnic will be at Riverside Park from noon to 4 p.m. at Riverside Park LGBTQ+ Spectrum of Findlay board secretary Dr. Jasmin Bradley explained that there’s going to be plenty to do alongside the free food…

Bradley added that everyone is invited and that they’re aiming for an atmosphere of love and tolerance.

Gas Prices Stay Steady In The Area

Local gas prices are on par with what we were paying a week ago. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Findlay is $2.61 today. That’s down two cents from last Tuesday.

The statewide average has fallen eight cents over the last seven days, down to $2.63 per gallon.

Prices remain unchanged in Ottawa at $2.65 per gallon.

Findlay Hydrant Flushing Starts This Week

Fire hydrant flushing starts in Findlay this week. You’ll see work crews will flush hydrants in the North Blanchard Street area east to Bright Road, and from the Blanchard River north to Tiffin Avenue.

The city had planned to start flushing hydrants last week but ended up delaying the project.

Two Hurt In Saturday Crash

5/28/19 – 5:28 A.M.

A Saturday afternoon crash injured two people in southern Hancock County. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the collision happened at the intersection of U.S. 30 and County Road 9 around 12:40 p.m.

49-year-old Jennifer Neal of Forest was driving south on Road 9 when she stopped at the intersection. She then pulled in front of a car driven by 26-year-old Samantha Gibson of Ada. Hanco EMS took both drivers to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment.

Deputies cited Neal for failure to yield at a stop sign.
